What I’m thankful for, this fucked up year.

Seems like a tough question this year, but maybe not?

There’s a sort of dark, irony this year when going around the table listing off things you are thankful for. Aside from being thankful that 2020 is almost over, I kind of drew a blank on my first attempt.

But then, once I put one second of critical thought, I realized there’s actually a whole lot that I’m thankful for.

Such as:

Doctors, nurses, scientists, physicians, healthcare workers in general, who continue to work painstakingly, with little resources, to serve a society that delegitimizes and questions them.

Firefighters that risk their lives to save our homes, especially the prisoner firefighters that did the same job for $1 a day, to protect a society that doesn’t value them.

Immigrant and undocumented workers that grow, pick, cook and serve food; to a country that vilifies them, wants to get rid of them, and separate their families.

Protesters that put others lives and safety before theirs, to show the country and the world, that Black Lives Matter.

People brave enough to be themselves, regardless of the consequences, giving others the courage to do so too.

Indigenous people that cultivated this land before us, and continue to make this country strong, while continually being cast aside.

And even though it can be a pain in the ass… I’m thankful I have access to this wonderful technology that allows us to feel connected, miles apart.

My partner, that I am fortunate enough to lean on and find safety in, during these dark and isolating times.

My family (Missing Mom).

My friends.

My health, their health, and hopefully yours!

And so freaking thankful, we have less than 3 months left of this pile of trash.

It’s been a hard year, but I hope you can find some things that you are thankful for. If you look around hard enough, I think you can find more than you think. You might not even have to look that far.

Wishing you a safe, healthy and happy Thanksgiving from What’s Good.
